Now that our schedule is winding down for the summer holidays, a lot of you have asked us how you can keep exercising over the break in order not to regress too much. To answer your questions we thought it would be useful to give you some ideas on how you can keep your fitness levels up whilst we’re on a break.
Firstly, our evening classes are continuing until 10th August (apart from Monday 31st July and Tuesday 1st August due to the fasts). After that you will not see us again until the beginning of September, however, we’re always only an email away!
Here are some ways to keep fit in the meantime:
Why not go for a run? If this is something you have never done before you can download a ‘Couch-to-5k’ app and follow that plan. You’ll be running continuously in no time!
At home/hotel room HIIT session: Set your timer for 30 secs work 30 secs rest (beginners); 40 secs work and 20 secs rest (intermediate) and 50 secs work 10 secs rest (advanced) Exercises: Burpees, squat jumps, push-ups with a snap jump and running man. Repeat x5
If you have a bike, go for a good cycle, make sure to get some hills in to up the heart rate and increase the calorie burn.
Go for a swim. You can also do this in a HIIT style, doing one length flat out and the next slower, repeat for 20 mins.
If you’re on holiday and there is an opportunity to go for a hike go for it. It is a great way to explore a new place, get your heart rate up and something you can do with the whole family!
If you’re taking a beach holiday, sand is a great surface to exercise on – either barefoot or with trainers. Gentle on your feet, but adds a nice bit of resistance whether you’re running or doing your HIIT session.
Keep moving. Even if it’s just going for a stroll along the pier with your family or taking your kids to a nearby park.
Finally, it also important to give your body a bit of rest and recovery, so if you don’t get a chance to get a workout in, don’t beat yourself up, we promise we’ll get you back to your fit, strong and healthy selves in no time!
We also have some workouts on our YouTube channel.
