Passover is just around the corner and we are getting lots of messages from panicked clients.
“Will I ruin my progress?”
“Can I eat x, y or z?”
Let’s be realistic. Weight loss during longer festivities is tough.
Chances are your weight will fluctuate a lot more than usual. You will be eating late dinners (seder night’s), eating some foods like matza that may have an effect on your digestive system, and will probably be surrounded by baked goods which don’t seem to be around as much the rest of year!
We know the burning question. Can I lose weight during Pesach?
Yes of course, you can.
But the question we want to ask you is this: is it worth it?
Losing weight during a week that is full of food and social occasions will require sacrifice. Not just in terms of food choices, but also in terms of memories. If you worry so much about your nutrition, you might find you don’t enjoy your time as much. You might eventually remember this as the miserable Passover, where you felt you couldn’t eat anything.
This is not to say that you should cut out all the “rules” completely, so here are our top tips to make sure you enjoy your time and food without straying too far from the path your currently on:

Remember: Passover only lasts 1 week out of 52. While you might not make progress on the scale this week (which isn’t the only or best measure of progress!), you will find you can really work on changing your mindset!
No more all-or-nothing mentality, just a balanced approach to your lifestyle. This way, you can truly enjoy the next few days and just bounce back on your plan once the holidays are over. If you have gained some weight the likliehood is that it will be superficial and will come off pretty quickly if you get back to your normal routine.
